Fetal monitoring information you can trust

It’s finally ready!

You asked for it. A course covering the evidence base about using fetal heart rate monitoring in labour. And after spending 18 months tinkering about – it is finally ready for release!

Fetal Monitoring for Maternity Professionals is designed for registered maternity professionals (and students of those professions) who talk with women about fetal heart rate monitoring in labour as part of their role. Research is clear that women are often not given any information at all about their options when it comes to fetal heart rate monitoring in labour. When they are, that information rarely covers the pros and cons of the various options. And sometimes the information given simply isn’t true.

It’s tempting to blame individual professionals for this, but the evidence base is rarely taught during training or in professional development courses. When I was a flash young obstetrician I too was sharing inaccurate information as I simply repeated what I had been told. I was called out on it by the partner of a woman I was caring for and I realised I had to do better.

Fetal Monitoring for Maternity Professionals is the course I wish had been available when I was learning my profession. You’ll find detailed and trustworthy analysis of the evidence, packaged in an easy to understand way. And I’ll provide you with the answers to the questions I am asked most often, so when people ask you the same thing, you know where to start. There are no wiggly lines to interpret, just the facts about who benefits, and who doesn’t, from CTG use in labour.

Hop to it!

If you believe in evidence-based care, you work with women who use fetal heart rate monitoring in labour, and you are a registered maternity professional (midwife, nurse, obstetrician, or similar), sign up now! I have limited the numbers in the course to make sure that everyone gets personal attention. Enrolments close on July 10 at 8 am as the course starts. Click the link for more information about the course and to enrol.

A small hand-picked group of midwives and obstetricians have already had behind the scenes access to the course while I was fine-tuning it. 100% of the people who completed the course said they would recommend it to a colleague. Here are some of the things they said about Fetal Monitoring for Maternity Professionals:

You will definitely be surprised by what you learn, so much so that it will make you consider your beliefs and practices around fetal monitoring.

Krystal – Midwifery student

A really great comprehensive course that covers all aspects of care, and the pros and cons surrounding CTG monitoring.

Thought provoking and a must do!

  1. Congratulations and thank you my dear friend and colleague- I am so delighted for you and a tad envious of my professional colleagues for having this opportunity to learn/understand/communicate/counsel on all aspects of fetal heart rate monitoring. I wish I was in active clinical practice again…All the best. I have no doubts it will become a learning tool globally. Kudos to you

  2. Hi.
I was wondering why you need to be registered to access this course??
Myself & other non-registered birth practitioners that I know discuss fetal heart monitoring in pregnancy & labour with the families we work with & also if they required hospital support the use of CTG/fetal scalp electrode monitoring.
I’m hoping this course isn’t excluding us!?
